Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair a two-day Chintan Shivir with Union Cabinet ministers on September 23 and 24, as the government reviews its work and discusses priorities for the next phase of governance. The meeting is being held at Seva Teerth, the Prime Minister’s Office complex in New Delhi.
The discussions are expected to focus on policy implementation, governance, reforms, inter-ministerial coordination and public service delivery, with the broader objective of advancing the government’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
Focus on Governance and Reforms
The session comes as the government reaches the halfway point of its third term. Ministers are expected to review progress across ministries, identify areas requiring greater coordination and discuss priorities for the coming period.
The meeting follows recent interactions between Modi and Ministers of State, making the latest session a more focused discussion involving Cabinet ministers. Preparatory groups have also been working on themes including governance, communication, implementation and ministry functioning.
Viksit Bharat 2047 in Focus
The Chintan Shivir is expected to examine reforms and longer-term priorities connected with the government’s Viksit Bharat 2047 objective.
Issues such as ease of living, ease of doing business, reducing compliance burdens and improving public-service delivery are among the broader areas being discussed as part of the government’s reform agenda.
Cabinet Reshuffle Speculation
The timing of the meeting has also prompted speculation about a possible Cabinet reshuffle. However, there is no official confirmation that the Chintan Shivir is linked to any reshuffle.
The government has described the exercise primarily as a platform to review ongoing work, strengthen coordination and identify policy priorities for the next phase.
