The Budget Session of Parliament 2026 witnessed sharp political exchanges, but the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) stood firm in defending the Union Budget and the government’s broader economic vision, underlining stability, growth and national interest as core priorities.
Addressing criticism from the Opposition, senior NDA leaders reiterated that the Budget reflects a long-term, India-first strategy, aimed at strengthening the economy while safeguarding sovereignty. The government maintained that the fiscal roadmap balances welfare with growth, focusing on infrastructure expansion, job creation, and support for farmers, women and youth.

Responding to allegations over trade and economic policy, ministers from the ruling benches asserted that India’s strategic and economic autonomy remains non-negotiable. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju dismissed claims of policy compromise, stating that every decision taken by the government is guided by national interest and global competitiveness.
NDA leaders emphasised that India’s engagement with global partners is based on strength and self-confidence, not dependency. The government highlighted reforms in manufacturing, defence production, and digital infrastructure as proof of India’s growing influence in global supply chains.
Union Budget 2026: Focus on Stability and Inclusive Growth
The government underlined that the Union Budget 2026 prioritises:
- Infrastructure-led development
- Support for agriculture and rural livelihoods
- Expansion of social welfare schemes
- Skill development and employment generation
The ruling alliance argued that the Budget continues the reform momentum built over the past decade under Narendra Modi, ensuring fiscal discipline while addressing the needs of a growing economy.
Opposition Disruptions Draw Criticism
NDA members criticised the Opposition for repeated disruptions in both Houses, arguing that Parliament must remain a platform for constructive debate rather than political theatrics. BJP MPs accused Opposition leaders of politicising sensitive issues instead of engaging meaningfully with Budget provisions.
“The government is ready for discussion, but Parliament cannot function amid constant disruptions,” NDA leaders said, urging the Opposition to allow debate in the interest of democracy.
Strong Mandate, Steady Governance
The ruling alliance stressed that the NDA’s strength lies in its clear mandate and consistent governance record. Over the years, the government has pushed through key reforms in taxation, defence, infrastructure and welfare delivery, earning credibility both domestically and internationally.
