Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta received a bomb threat email on March 24, 2026, warning of 16 RDX-packed IEDs planted in the assembly building ahead of the budget presentation. The threat also targeted Vidhan Sabha Metro Station and high-profile leaders including PM Modi, HM Amit Shah, and CM Rekha Gupta.

Threat Details

Two emails—one to the assembly’s official account at 7:28 AM and another to the speaker’s personal ID at 7:49 AM—claimed explosives would detonate, blowing up the premises. Similar threats named Lt Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu, EAM S Jaishankar, and Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa.

Security Response

Delhi Police immediately launched searches with bomb disposal squads and sniffer dogs across the assembly complex and metro station. No suspicious objects found so far; security heightened as investigations trace email origins amid repeated threats to Delhi institutions.

Context of Recent Threats

This follows a pattern of hoax bomb threats targeting schools and hospitals in Delhi. Authorities treat all seriously while probing potential links to geopolitical tensions or domestic disruption attempts before key legislative sessions.
