Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pulled off a thrilling two-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians (MI) in a last-ball IPL 2026 clash, climbing to the top of the points table and strengthening their playoff hopes. The defeat proved costly for Mumbai Indians, who were officially eliminated from the IPL 2026 playoff race following the loss. The five-time champions struggled with inconsistency throughout the season and failed to capitalize on crucial moments during the tournament.

RCB, meanwhile, moved to the top of the IPL 2026 standings with 14 points from 11 matches and significantly improved their chances of finishing in the top two positions. Experts now consider Bengaluru among the strongest contenders for the playoffs following their recent surge in form.

The updated points table has made the playoff battle even more competitive, with multiple teams still fighting for the remaining qualification spots.
