Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has written a special letter to children and parents ahead of the summer holidays, encouraging youngsters to use the vacation period to learn new skills, spend time with grandparents, and build a stronger connection with nature.
According to the Chief Minister, summer vacations should not be limited to entertainment or screen time alone but should become an opportunity for “new exploration, creativity, and personality development.” He encouraged students to use the break to learn a new language, develop hobbies, and acquire practical life skills.
In his message, Yogi Adityanath suggested activities such as reading books, photography, painting, gardening, music, and cooking as meaningful ways for children to spend their holidays. He said such experiences help improve creativity, confidence, and overall personality development.
The Chief Minister also made a strong appeal to parents to take children to visit their maternal and paternal grandparents during the vacation period. He said children today are slowly moving away from family storytelling traditions and emotional bonding with elders, which are important for learning values, culture, and traditions.
Yogi Adityanath further encouraged families to reconnect children with nature by planting saplings, caring for plants, and maintaining cleanliness in their surroundings. He stressed that environmental awareness and sensitivity begin when children understand the importance of trees, soil, and water.
The Chief Minister also appealed to people to make the summer break “plastic-free” and urged families to adopt environmentally responsible habits during vacations. He said small lifestyle changes today can become the foundation for major environmental improvements in the future.
Officials said the letter was aimed at promoting holistic child development beyond academics and encouraging stronger family and social values among children. The initiative has received positive reactions online, with many parents appreciating the emphasis on family bonding and outdoor activities.
The message comes at a time when concerns are increasing over excessive screen exposure among children and declining interaction with outdoor environments and extended family structures. Educational experts often highlight that vacations can play an important role in emotional growth, creativity, and practical learning experiences.
