Massive Search Operation Continues in Dense Forests
Security forces continued their large-scale anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Wednesday as Operation Sheruwali entered its twelfth day. The joint operation, involving the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), is focused on tracking down suspected terrorists believed to be hiding in the dense forest areas of Gambhir Mughlan and Dorimal in the Manjakote sector.
Launched following intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the region, the operation has evolved into one of the most extensive counter-terror missions conducted in Rajouri in recent months. Security agencies have maintained a tight cordon around the forest belt while carrying out continuous search and combing operations in the challenging terrain.
Multi-Agency Effort Backed by Advanced Technology
To strengthen the operation, security forces have deployed helicopters, drones, sniffer dogs and other surveillance equipment to monitor the movement of suspected terrorists. Officials say the difficult mountainous terrain and dense vegetation have made the mission particularly complex, requiring forces to proceed cautiously while maintaining constant vigilance.
The operation is being conducted through close coordination among multiple security agencies, with additional personnel and logistical support deployed to prevent any escape attempts. Authorities have also strengthened security along key routes surrounding the operational area.
Security Forces Maintain Tight Cordon
Officials stated that fresh assault teams have been deployed at various stages of the operation to tighten the security perimeter and keep suspected militants confined within the designated zone. The anti-terror mission witnessed intermittent exchanges of fire in recent days, prompting forces to further reinforce their presence across the region.
Security agencies remain confident that sustained pressure and continuous surveillance will help achieve the operation’s objectives. The area continues to remain under heightened security, with access to certain locations closely monitored.
Focus on Eliminating Terror Threat
Operation Sheruwali is aimed at neutralising terrorists operating in the Rajouri-Poonch forest belt, disrupting terror networks and preventing infiltration in the strategically sensitive Pir Panjal region. Officials have reiterated that search operations will continue until the area is fully sanitised and all security concerns are addressed.
The prolonged operation highlights the determination of security forces to eliminate terror threats in the region and reinforce stability in Jammu and Kashmir amid ongoing counter-terror efforts.
