Actor-politician applauds storytelling in the blockbuster thriller and emphasizes appreciation for good cinema beyond language barriers.
Actor and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has praised the blockbuster film Dhurandhar, describing its storytelling approach as “bold” while sharing his views on cinema, personal film preferences, and the importance of appreciating good stories irrespective of language.
Appreciation for ‘Dhurandhar’
Speaking in an interview, Pawan Kalyan said that he admired the boldness displayed in Dhurandhar, the spy action thriller directed by Aditya Dhar. The film, starring Ranveer Singh, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, and Sanjay Dutt, emerged as one of the biggest cinematic successes of recent times. Kalyan noted that while he had not watched the sequel in theatres, he appreciated the creative choices and narrative style that made the franchise stand out.
Beyond Regional Cinema Debates
The Telugu superstar also reiterated that he does not enjoy comparisons between Hindi and South Indian cinema. According to him, compelling storytelling should be appreciated regardless of the language in which it is made. He emphasized that audiences today have access to content from across the country and are increasingly focused on quality rather than regional labels.
A Special Mention for ‘Baramulla’
Apart from Dhurandhar, Kalyan also spoke about Baramulla, a film that resonated with him on a personal level. He revealed that his memories of spending time in Kashmir during the late 1980s made the film particularly impactful. The actor said that the movie evoked strong emotions and connected with experiences from his past, making it one of the recent films that left a lasting impression on him.
Love for Horror Films
Discussing his viewing habits, Kalyan revealed that he enjoys horror films because they help him relax and remain fully engaged in the story. He explained that the genre captures his attention completely, allowing him to disconnect from everyday pressures and immerse himself in the narrative.
Cinema Without Boundaries
Pawan Kalyan’s remarks reflect a broader shift within the Indian film industry, where audiences increasingly embrace content across languages and regions. His praise for Dhurandhar underscores the growing recognition of strong storytelling as the defining factor behind a film’s success, regardless of its linguistic or cultural origins.
