New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has dismissed as fake a viral social media video that allegedly showed the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination question paper being leaked before the test. The agency clarified that the video was fabricated and intended to mislead students and create unnecessary panic among candidates.
The controversy erupted after a video circulated online claiming to show a sealed NEET-UG 2026 re-test booklet packet being opened before the examination. However, the NTA, citing findings highlighted by PIB Fact Check, pointed out that the packet shown in the video did not contain the mandatory OMR answer sheet that accompanies every official NEET examination booklet, exposing inconsistencies in the claim.
The agency reiterated that no individual, institution or online platform has access to NEET question papers before the commencement of the examination and stressed that the question paper had not been leaked. It urged candidates and parents to rely only on official communications and avoid sharing unverified information on social media.
Following the spread of the video, the NTA launched an investigation into the misinformation campaign and is working with law enforcement agencies to identify those responsible for creating and distributing the false content. Officials said strict action would be taken against anyone found attempting to undermine the integrity of the examination process.
The clarification comes amid heightened scrutiny of NEET-UG 2026 after the original examination was cancelled due to allegations of a paper leak, leading to a nationwide re-test. To ensure transparency, authorities implemented enhanced security measures including AI-based monitoring, CCTV surveillance, biometric verification and tighter control over question paper distribution.
According to the NTA, the re-examination was conducted smoothly and no complaints related to fresh paper leaks were received. Officials stated that the enhanced security framework helped maintain the integrity of the examination process and restore confidence among students.
The agency has once again advised aspirants to ignore rumours, refrain from engaging with Telegram channels or social media accounts claiming access to question papers, and verify all information through official NTA channels.
