Hockey India has announced a 31-member core group for the Senior Women’s National Coaching Camp, marking the beginning of India’s preparations for a high-stakes international season in 2026. The camp is scheduled to be held from April 1 to April 9 and will serve as a key platform to assess player readiness and team combinations ahead of major tournaments.
The announcement comes at a significant moment for the Indian women’s hockey team, which is building momentum following an impressive performance at the FIH Hockey Women’s World Cup Qualifiers in Hyderabad, where the team secured a silver medal and booked its place in the World Cup.
Focus on Fitness, Strategy and Team Balance
The nine-day camp will emphasize improving physical conditioning, refining tactical strategies, and strengthening on-field coordination among players. With a mix of experienced internationals and emerging talents, the squad aims to create a balanced unit capable of competing at the highest level.
Under the guidance of head coach Sjoerd Marijne, the camp is expected to focus on building strong combinations and enhancing match awareness. The coaching staff will closely monitor performances to identify the best possible squad for upcoming tournaments.
Key Tournaments on the Horizon
The camp assumes added importance as India prepares for a packed calendar. The team is set to participate in the FIH Hockey Women’s Nations Cup in June, followed by the prestigious FIH Hockey Women’s World Cup in Belgium and the Netherlands in August.
Later in the year, the Asian Games in Japan, scheduled from September 19 to October 4, will provide another major opportunity for the team to assert its dominance on the continental stage.
Building Momentum for Global Success
With a structured training program and a clear focus on performance, Hockey India’s latest move reflects its long-term vision of strengthening the women’s team. The coaching camp is expected to lay a solid foundation as India eyes podium finishes in upcoming global competitions and continues its rise in international hockey.
