Scammers are sending fraudulent emails pretending to be from the PAN Cards department, urging people to download a so-called “e-PAN Card” via suspicious links. These messages claim an “Important QR Update: PAN 2.0,” but they are phishing attempts designed to steal financial and personal data.

Email Red Flags

Such emails typically come from unverified senders like “info@smt.plusoasis.com” dated around April 10, 2025, with promises of streamlined PAN processes and QR codes. They push users to click links or download attachments, which can install malware or harvest sensitive information like PAN and Aadhaar details.

How to Stay Safe

Always check the sender’s email ID before acting—official communications come from verified government domains. Never share financial details via email, calls, or SMS, and avoid clicking links in unsolicited messages.

Reporting Phishing

Report these scams directly to the Income Tax Department through their official portal at https://incometaxindia.gov.in/pages/report-phishing.aspx for investigation and action. Access legitimate e-PAN services only via the official Income Tax website to protect yourself.
