Nashik Airport (Ozar) receives a ₹572 crore expansion boost to handle massive pilgrim influx for the 2026-28 Simhastha Kumbh Mela. This strategic upgrade triples capacity from 300 to 1,000 passengers hourly, ensuring seamless travel for millions of devotees.

Infrastructure Enhancements

The project features a new 17,800 sqm integrated terminal, 1.15 lakh sqm apron for more aircraft parking, and 25,000 sqm vehicle parking. Modern additions include aerobridges, advanced security scanners, landscaping, and transport upgrades under HAL-state MoU.

Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority approved the ₹556-640 crore initiative, targeting March 2027 completion ahead of the October 2026-July 2028 event.

Economic and Regional Gains

Led by Chairman Praveen Gedam, the expansion positions Nashik as an aviation hub linking Nashik city (20 km away) with Delhi, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru. It spurs industrialization, jobs, and Mela-driven growth, complementing Mahindra’s export surge.
