Ten days after the Assembly election results, Kerala’s political atmosphere is now filled with memes, sarcasm, and endless speculation as the Congress high command continues to remain silent on the Chief Ministerial face of the UDF. What began as serious political discussion has now turned into one of the biggest troll topics on Kerala social media.
Leader of Opposition V. D. Satheesan continues to remain at the centre of the discussion, with supporters confidently projecting him as the likely Chief Minister candidate. However, the absence of any official announcement from the Congress leadership has triggered a wave of online sarcasm.
Social media users are joking that “even IPL playoffs get confirmed faster than Kerala’s CM decision,” while others sarcastically claim the Congress high command is still “processing the file.” Meme pages across Facebook, Instagram, and X are flooded with countdown posts asking how many more days it will take to officially declare the next leader.
Several viral posts humorously compared the situation to a suspense thriller, with captions like “Day 10: Kerala still waiting for the high command update” and “Loading… Next CM announcement pending.” Political troll groups have also mocked the repeated rumours suggesting that the announcement is “expected soon.”
Despite the online humour, political observers say the delay reflects ongoing internal consultations within the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF). Satheesan’s growing influence in Kerala politics has made him one of the strongest contenders for the top post, but the party leadership has yet to make its stand official.
Meanwhile, rival parties have also joined the trolling campaign. CPI(M) supporters sarcastically questioned whether the Congress needs “another committee meeting” before finalising leadership, while BJP supporters described the delay as proof of confusion within the opposition alliance.
Even without an official announcement, the speculation surrounding Satheesan has dominated Kerala’s political conversations over the last several days. For now, the only confirmed winner appears to be Kerala’s meme creators, who are enjoying every minute of the suspense.
