Malayalam cinema’s leading actor Parvathy Thiruvothu has opened up about why she considers Mohanlal and Mammootty true “legends” of the industry, focusing not on box‑office numbers but on the way they behave on set. Speaking in a recent interview, she said that the two icons do not just bring star power; they change the atmosphere of a shoot for the better and allow junior actors to feel like equals in front of the camera.
Parvathy recalled her experience working with Mohanlal in the psychological crime thriller Flash and with Mammootty in the intense drama Puzhu. She described how the moment either of them enters the set, there is a natural hush, a sense of gravitas that envelops the space. Yet, once the work begins, that aura of formality fades, and both actors shift the focus entirely to the craft—making younger co‑stars feel comfortable, relaxed, and technically safe.
She emphasised that what truly makes them legends is how they carry themselves as human beings on set. According to Parvathy, they are protective of everyone around them, very present in the moment, and deeply committed to the process, never letting ego or reputation interfere with the job. She said that legends are not just those who deliver big performances, but those who walk onto the set and make it a better, more respectful, and more focused place for the entire team.
