The St Kitts and Nevis Patriots produced one of their most emphatic performances of the CPL 2026 season, defeating the Saint Lucia Kings by 137 runs in Basseterre. The victory was built around a breathtaking record-breaking century from Sri Lankan all-rounder Dasun Shanaka, followed by a devastating bowling display from Jeremiah Louis.
Shanaka’s unbeaten 121 off 43 balls completely changed the momentum of the Patriots’ innings. He reached his century from only 39 deliveries, setting a new record for the fastest hundred in CPL history. His innings included eight fours and 12 sixes, giving him a remarkable strike rate of more than 280.
The importance of the innings goes beyond the record. The Patriots were not initially on course for such a massive total. Andre Fletcher had already provided the platform with a rapid 64, but Shanaka’s late acceleration turned a competitive score into an imposing 235 for four. The Patriots smashed 93 runs in their final five overs, highlighting the value of finishing power in modern T20 cricket.
The Kings, meanwhile, struggled to respond under the pressure of the huge target. They were bowled out for only 98 in 13.5 overs. Jeremiah Louis emerged as the second major match-winner, claiming five wickets for just 10 runs. Tim Seifert’s 50 was the only significant resistance.
For the Patriots, the result could be a significant confidence boost.
