Aryaman Vikram Birla, son of Aditya Birla Group chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla, has been appointed chairman of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) following the consortium’s acquisition of the IPL franchise.

Cricket Career

Born in 1997, the 28-year-old represented Madhya Pradesh in domestic cricket, playing 9 first-class matches (414 runs, highest 103*) and 4 List A games. He trained in England and was picked by Rajasthan Royals in the 2018 IPL auction for ₹30 lakh but never played a match.

Business Transition

After injuries and challenges, Aryaman earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and joined the family conglomerate as a director. His dual cricket-business background makes him a fitting leader for RCB’s next phase post their maiden IPL title.

Ownership Context

The Aditya Birla Group-led consortium (with Satyan Gajwani as vice chairman) bought RCB for a record ₹16,000+ crore ($1.78B). Aryaman’s appointment symbolizes continuity from player to executive in IPL’s evolving landscape.
