Ayodhya: Authorities have intensified their investigation into the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ram Mandir, as claims of financial irregularities have triggered widespread concern among devotees and prompted political reactions.
The controversy centres on allegations that cash donations and valuables offered by devotees were misappropriated over an extended period. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been probing the case, examining financial records, CCTV footage, donation handling procedures and the functioning of personnel responsible for counting and safeguarding offerings.
According to the latest developments, an FIR has been registered against eight individuals, including officials associated with donation collection and cash-counting operations. The accused face charges including criminal breach of trust, cheating, theft and criminal conspiracy. Police have also arrested all eight named individuals as the investigation expands.
The alleged financial irregularities have generated sharp political debate. Opposition leaders have demanded greater transparency in the administration of temple donations, while authorities have maintained that the investigation is being conducted impartially and that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found guilty.

The Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has stated that it is cooperating fully with investigators and supports a thorough inquiry into the matter. The trust has emphasized its commitment to protecting devotees’ contributions and maintaining transparency in temple administration.
The case has attracted nationwide attention because the Ayodhya Ram Mandir receives substantial donations from pilgrims across India and abroad. Authorities have assured devotees that measures will be strengthened to improve accountability and prevent similar incidents in the future.
