India controlled the match from the opening day with impressive performances from both batters and bowlers. Yastika Bhatia’s century, valuable contributions from Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur and Deepti Sharma, along with Kranti Gaud’s sensational five-wicket haul, laid the foundation for a memorable victory. Sneh Rana further strengthened India’s dominance with four wickets in the second innings as England were bowled out for 186 while chasing a daunting target of 457.
Kranti Gaud etched her name into cricket history by becoming the first woman to be honoured on the Lord’s Test Honours Board for a five-wicket haul. Yastika Bhatia also secured a place on the prestigious board for her century, making the occasion even more special for Indian cricket.
Leaders Applaud Team’s Achievement
The BCCI leadership credited the players, coaching staff and support personnel for the historic success, calling it an inspiration for aspiring cricketers across the country. Officials said the triumph demonstrated India’s growing strength in the longest format and highlighted the team’s ability to perform under pressure on the international stage.
The victory is expected to provide fresh momentum to women’s cricket in India and strengthen calls for more regular women’s Test matches. Cricket experts believe the Lord’s triumph will be remembered as a defining milestone that showcases the evolution of the women’s game and inspires the next generation of players. With this emphatic win at the “Home of Cricket,” India has reaffirmed its status as one of the leading forces in international women’s cricket.
