Seven-Day Custody Granted Amid Growing Questions Over Young Woman’s Death
The mysterious death of 33-year-old Twisha Sharma has taken a major turn after a Bhopal court sent her husband, Samarth Singh, to seven days of police remand in connection with the high-profile case that has triggered outrage across the country.
Twisha Sharma, a model and actor, was found dead at her matrimonial home in Bhopal on May 12, barely months after her marriage. The case is now being investigated under charges linked to dowry death, cruelty, and alleged harassment.
Police officials informed the court that Samarth Singh had not been cooperating with the investigation, leading authorities to seek custodial interrogation. The court accepted the plea and handed investigators seven days to question the accused regarding the circumstances surrounding Twisha’s death.
Arrest Followed Days of Evasion
The arrest itself became dramatic after Bhopal Police clarified that Samarth Singh was not voluntarily surrendering but was taken into custody from Jabalpur after remaining untraceable for several days.
Police had earlier issued a lookout notice and announced a cash reward for information leading to his arrest. Reports also claimed that Singh attempted to avoid immediate police action while inside court premises before eventually being detained.
The developments have intensified public scrutiny, especially after allegations emerged from Twisha’s family regarding mental harassment, dowry pressure, and emotional abuse inside her matrimonial home.
AIIMS Delhi Team Conducting Second Autopsy
In another major development, the Madhya Pradesh High Court ordered a second post-mortem examination to be conducted by a special forensic team from AIIMS Delhi.
The decision followed persistent demands from Twisha’s family, who argued that the original investigation failed to answer several crucial questions surrounding her death.
A four-member AIIMS forensic team reportedly arrived in Bhopal using a state-chartered aircraft to carry out the second autopsy, highlighting the seriousness and sensitivity of the case.
Family Raises Questions Over Influence and Investigation
Twisha Sharma’s family has repeatedly alleged that influential connections were being used to interfere with the investigation. Particular attention has focused on Samarth Singh’s mother, Giribala Singh, a former judge who has also been named in the case.
The family questioned several phone calls allegedly made to influential individuals after Twisha’s death and demanded an impartial investigation monitored at the highest level.
Meanwhile, the Bar Council of India suspended Samarth Singh from legal practice following the serious allegations against him.
Public Pressure Continues to Build
The case has now evolved into one of the most closely watched investigations in Madhya Pradesh, with widespread attention on whether the probe can establish the truth behind Twisha Sharma’s death.
What initially appeared to be another tragic domestic case has now become a national conversation about dowry harassment, institutional accountability, and the pressure faced by women inside abusive marriages.
With police custody underway, forensic examinations continuing, and legal proceedings intensifying, the coming days are expected to determine whether the investigation can move beyond allegations and uncover what truly happened inside the Bhopal residence on the night Twisha Sharma died.
