Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has launched a blistering attack on the Congress-led opposition, insisting they “must face consequences” for blocking the Women’s Reservation Bill in the Lok Sabha.

NDA Pushes Back Hard

Rijiju, speaking at an event in the Parliament complex, reiterated PM Modi’s stance that the government will not treat the bill’s failure as a defeat but instead “put before the nation’s women” that those who blocked women’s reservation “deserve punishment.” He called the opposition’s conduct a “black spot” that “will never get clean,” framing the vote as a historic betrayal of women’s rights.

Message to Voters

Rijiju argued that while the NDA had 298 votes in favour, the bill failed to clear the required two‑thirds majority due to unified opposition opposition led by Congress, DMK, TMC, and SP. He warned that “India’s women will never forgive those who opposed the bill,” and that the opposition leadership would face “democratic punishment” at the ballot box in 2029.
