Rainy, cooler start to the day

Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad and other parts of the National Capital Region (NCR) woke up to light to moderate rain and scattered thunderstorms, bringing a brief but welcome break from the rising spring heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the region, warning of further spells of rain accompanied by thunder, lightning and gusty winds through the day.

What the forecast says

IMD’s latest forecast indicates generally cloudy skies with a likelihood of moderate to heavy showers at places in Delhi and adjoining districts such as Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Noida and Faridabad. Temperature has dipped slightly under the cloud cover, with maximums expected in the mid‑30s °C and higher humidity, making the air feel cooler but also stickier in some pockets.

Impact on traffic and travel

The rain has already led to isolated waterlogging at low‑lying spots and caused congestion on some key roads during the morning rush. Authorities and IMD have advised commuters to watch out for slippery surfaces, low visibility, and possible traffic delays, especially in areas that frequently face water‑logging.
