In a remarkable display of talent and confidence, five-year-old Shaurya Maheshwari from Jaipur clinched a gold medal at the World Wide Super League (WWSL) International Taekwondo Championship. Competing in the under-18 kg category, the young athlete outperformed competitors from across India and several other countries, marking a significant achievement at such an early age.
Dominant performance in kyorugi event
Shaurya delivered an impressive performance in the kyorugi (sparring) event, showcasing agility, discipline, and technique well beyond his years. The championship, held from April 10 to 12 at the Khelo India Indoor Stadium in Jaipur, featured multiple taekwondo disciplines and attracted hundreds of participants, making his victory even more noteworthy.

Training under experienced coach Richa Gaur at the Global Institute of Self Defence and Martial Arts, Shaurya has been honing his skills with dedication. The institute itself delivered an impressive overall performance at the event, securing a total of 16 medals, reflecting the quality of training and preparation.

This gold medal adds to Shaurya’s growing list of achievements. He had earlier secured a bronze medal at the Kukkiwon International Tournament in Delhi, making this his second international medal. His rapid rise highlights both his natural talent and disciplined training routine.
