Drogo Aerospace Advances ₹72-Crore Defence Contract
In a significant boost to India’s indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities, Hyderabad-based Drogo Aerospace has delivered the first batch of 41 JK 250e drones to the Indian Army under a ₹72-crore contract. The delivery marks a major milestone for the company and aligns with the government’s push for self-reliance in defence technology.
The first batch was handed over to officials of the Army’s Southern Command in Nashik, Maharashtra. The company has stated that the remaining deliveries under the contract will be completed by August 2026. The total order comprises 217 drones, of which 176 are yet to be supplied.
Designed for Surveillance and Reconnaissance
The JK 250e drones have been developed and manufactured entirely in India by Drogo Aerospace. According to the company, the drones can remain airborne for up to three hours on a single charge and are designed for surveillance, reconnaissance and other critical military operations. Their deployment is expected to enhance the Indian Army’s intelligence-gathering and monitoring capabilities in challenging operational environments.
Defence experts view the induction of indigenous drone systems as an important step toward reducing dependence on imported military technologies while strengthening India’s unmanned aerial capabilities.
Supporting Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat
The project is being seen as a strong endorsement of the government’s ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives. With rising demand for advanced drone systems in modern warfare, domestic manufacturers are increasingly playing a crucial role in equipping the armed forces with cutting-edge technology.
Drogo Aerospace recently rebranded from Drogo Drones, reflecting its expansion into a broader aerospace technology ecosystem that includes defence, aviation, unmanned systems and advanced surveillance solutions. The company is also developing next-generation unmanned aerial platforms and AI-powered intelligence systems.
Strengthening India’s Defence Ecosystem
The successful delivery highlights the growing contribution of Indian startups to the country’s defence sector. As the armed forces continue to modernize and expand their drone capabilities, indigenous companies are emerging as key partners in strengthening national security and technological self-reliance.
