Infosys CEO Salil Parekh dismissed fears of AI decimating the $1.5 trillion global tech services industry, assuring engineers their roles will evolve rather than disappear.

Gradual AI Integration in Large Enterprises

Parekh emphasized AI’s “brownfield” adoption in established companies requires coexistence with legacy systems. “It’s not that overnight everything is going to be replaced,” he stated, highlighting engineering needs for customization within complex organizations.

Continued Hiring and Growth Outlook

Infosys plans to recruit 20,000 fresh graduates this year and next, signaling expanding headcount. Parekh projects AI services as a $300-400 billion market opportunity, driving revenue through client agents, process automation, and legacy modernization.

Strategic Focus Areas

The company prioritizes six AI growth domains while maintaining startup investments in analytics and healthcare. Parekh noted strong client demand for trusted partners amid foundational models’ rapid innovation versus enterprises’ measured pace.
