Mohammad Tahir Anwar, elder brother of Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar and a key figure in the terror group’s operations, has died in Pakistan’s Bahawalpur under unclear circumstances.

JeM Announces Funeral

Pro-JeM channels confirmed the death via Telegram, scheduling funeral prayers late Monday at Jamia Masjid Usman Wali (or Usman-o-Ali). No cause—illness, incident, or otherwise—has been disclosed, fueling speculation.

Tahir was one of Masood Azhar’s five brothers actively involved with JeM, responsible for attacks like Parliament (2001), Pathankot (2016), Uri (2016), and Pulwama (2019). India’s Operation Sindoor last year killed 10 Azhar relatives at JeM’s Bahawalpur headquarters.
