Pune: A fresh development has emerged in the investigation into the alleged murder of Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal, with police uncovering evidence of a 34-minute phone call between prime accused Siya Goyal and her alleged lover and co-accused Chetan Chaudhary shortly before the fatal incident at Lohagad Fort. The revelation is based on forensic analysis of the accused’s mobile phones and call records.
According to investigators, the call took place just 34 minutes before Ketan Agarwal was allegedly pushed into the gorge. Police suspect the conversation may have been used to coordinate the final stages of the alleged murder plan. The contents of the call are still being examined, and investigators are working to retrieve additional deleted digital evidence.
Officials say the latest finding strengthens their theory that the crime was premeditated. Earlier in the investigation, police alleged that Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary had conducted multiple visits to Lohagad Fort to rehearse the crime, researched methods of killing online, deleted chat histories, and prepared explanations in case they were questioned by investigators.
Investigators have also alleged that the accused used a pre-arranged signal during the trek. According to the police, Siya allegedly sat down at a designated spot, signaling Chetan to push Ketan into the gorge. These allegations form part of the prosecution’s case and are yet to be tested before the court.
Police recently recreated the crime scene at Lohagad Fort with both accused present as part of the ongoing investigation. Forensic experts are examining mobile phones, deleted messages, location data and CCTV footage to establish the sequence of events leading up to the incident.
Both Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary remain in custody on charges including murder and criminal conspiracy. Their legal representatives have denied the allegations, arguing that the prosecution’s case is based largely on circumstantial evidence and that the investigation is still ongoing.
The Pune Police are expected to incorporate the newly recovered call records and digital forensic findings into the chargesheet, which will form a crucial part of the prosecution’s case as the investigation moves toward trial.
