Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Lok Sabha MP Nishikant Dubey has backed demands for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into alleged irregularities in competitive examinations in Jharkhand, saying the matter concerns the future of the state’s students.
Speaking to reporters in Deoghar on Friday, Dubey said he would push for a CBI inquiry and ensure that those responsible for any examination-related irregularities are held accountable. He also said the BJP would raise the issue in Parliament.
Nishikant Dubey Backs CBI Inquiry
Dubey said the alleged examination irregularities cannot be ignored because they directly affect students preparing for government recruitment examinations. He stressed that a proper investigation should be carried out to establish accountability and prevent similar incidents from occurring again.
The BJP MP said the issue would be taken up in Parliament and that efforts would be made to secure a CBI investigation. He argued that officials responsible for recruitment and examination processes must be held accountable if wrongdoing is established.
The demand for a CBI probe comes amid continuing protests by students and aspirants in Ranchi over alleged irregularities in examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC), Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) and other recruitment bodies.
Jharkhand Students Continue Their Protest
The examination controversy has triggered sustained protests by students in Ranchi. Student groups have been demanding greater transparency and accountability in the recruitment examination process.
Following discussions with a state government delegation on Friday, protesting aspirants said their agitation would continue because they had not received a definitive timeline for addressing their major demands.
Student leader Piyush Kumar said protesters were still planning a ‘Vidhan Sabha gherao’ on August 10. He said the students would continue their movement until their demands were addressed.
The protests are being held at Jaipal Singh Stadium in Ranchi and relate to alleged irregularities involving the JPSC, JSSC CGL and other competitive examinations.
Students Demand Greater Accountability
The protesting students have sought a more transparent process for discussions with the state government. Student representatives have also called for media presence during talks, arguing that previous closed-door discussions had failed to resolve their concerns.
A delegation of student representatives, along with a lawyer and technical experts, has been involved in discussions with the Jharkhand government. A meeting between government representatives and protesting aspirants was held at the State Guest House in Ranchi.
The students’ concerns have placed additional pressure on the state government to address allegations surrounding the conduct of competitive examinations and recruitment procedures.
Hemant Soren Government Offers Dialogue
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has said that his government is willing to engage with the protesting students and understand their concerns.
Soren said the government was ready for dialogue and wanted to address issues raised by students through communication and reforms. The government has indicated that it wants to take the discussions forward and understand the concerns of students participating in the protests.
However, the protesters have maintained that their agitation will continue until their key demands are addressed.
Issue Likely to Gain Political Attention
With Nishikant Dubey promising to raise the Jharkhand exam row in Parliament, the issue could receive greater political attention in the coming days.
The BJP MP’s demand for a CBI investigation adds to the pressure on the Jharkhand government amid continuing student protests. Whether the investigation is ultimately handed over to the CBI will depend on decisions by the competent authorities and any further legal or administrative developments.
For thousands of students preparing for government examinations, the controversy has become a major issue concerning transparency, fairness and accountability in the recruitment process.
As protests continue and discussions between student representatives and the state government remain ongoing, the demand for an independent investigation is expected to remain at the centre of the Jharkhand exam controversy.
