Global Music Star to Perform Before World Cup Final
American singer and rapper Post Malone is set to headline the closing ceremony of the FIFA World Cup 2026, bringing one of the world’s biggest music acts to football’s grandest stage. The performance will take place at the New York New Jersey Stadium on July 19, approximately 90 minutes before the World Cup final between Argentina and Spain.
FIFA said the ceremony will celebrate the conclusion of the tournament with a spectacular blend of music, culture and football, marking the end of the first-ever 48-team FIFA World Cup. The event is expected to attract millions of viewers worldwide before the championship match kicks off.
Star-Studded Celebration Planned
Known for chart-topping hits such as Circles, Sunflower and Rockstar, Post Malone has become one of the most successful global artists of the past decade. His performance is expected to be the centrepiece of an entertainment-packed closing ceremony featuring several international celebrities and special appearances.
According to FIFA, the pre-match show has been designed to honour the journey of all 48 participating nations while celebrating the diversity and unifying spirit of the World Cup. The production is being led by renowned creative director Marco Balich, known for staging ceremonies at major global sporting events.
Historic Entertainment for Fans
The 2026 edition of the FIFA World Cup is introducing several entertainment-first initiatives. In addition to the closing ceremony, the tournament final will feature the competition’s first-ever halftime show, inspired by major sporting spectacles such as the Super Bowl. The halftime performance has been curated in collaboration with Global Citizen and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.
Organisers believe the expanded entertainment programme will further enhance the fan experience and showcase the World Cup as a global cultural event beyond football.
Countdown to the Final
With Argentina and Spain set to battle for the coveted FIFA World Cup trophy, the closing ceremony is expected to provide a fitting prelude to one of the biggest sporting events on the planet. Post Malone’s performance is anticipated to draw worldwide attention, adding another memorable chapter to the tournament’s historic finale.
