Defence Minister Rajnath Singh chaired the inaugural Informal Group of Ministers (IGoM) meeting to assess West Asia conflict impacts on India’s energy security, essential commodities, and supply chains. He stressed proactive, coordinated, medium-to-long-term strategies with swift decision-making.

Comprehensive Risk Review

Joined by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Petroleum Minister Hardeep Puri, the group evaluated risks to crude imports, LPG availability, critical infrastructure, and logistics amid Hormuz disruptions. Empowered Groups of Secretaries presented preparedness measures for Centre-state coordination.

Strategic Directives

Singh directed time-bound policy synergy, high-level monitoring, and constructive ministerial inputs for resilience. The meeting followed PM Modi’s Chief Ministers’ consultation, reinforcing India’s COVID-era “Team India” approach against global shocks while countering misinformation.
