Ayodhya: The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust is expected to undergo a major organisational restructuring on July 11, following the alleged donation embezzlement case that has triggered widespread scrutiny of the temple’s administration. The reconstitution is expected to include the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the induction of new trustees to strengthen governance and transparency.
The development comes after the alleged theft of devotees’ donations led to the arrest of eight accused, prompting an extensive investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT). The controversy also resulted in the reported resignations of General Secretary Champat Rai and trustee Anil Mishra on moral grounds, although official confirmation regarding the final acceptance of their resignations is still awaited.
According to reports, the race for the Trust’s top executive position has narrowed to Yogeshwar Ram Mishra, currently serving as the Trust’s Office-in-Charge, and Nripendra Mishra, who heads the temple construction committee. The Trust is expected to take a final decision during the July 11 meeting.
Sources indicate that the Trust may also induct new members to improve oversight and reinforce public confidence in the management of temple affairs. The restructuring is aimed at implementing stronger administrative and financial controls following the recommendations made by the SIT.
The SIT has reportedly identified procedural lapses in the handling of donations and recommended a comprehensive overhaul of the Trust’s functioning. Investigators are also examining the financial transactions and assets of the accused, while extending the probe to officials responsible for handling and depositing temple donations.
The Ram Mandir in Ayodhya receives donations from millions of devotees across India and abroad, making robust financial management and accountability a key priority. Authorities have reiterated that anyone found guilty of misappropriating temple funds will face strict legal action, while efforts are underway to strengthen security and transparency in the donation management system.
The July 11 meeting is expected to be a significant milestone in restoring public trust and ensuring that the administration of one of India’s most revered religious institutions remains transparent, accountable and efficient.
