The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially opened the Class 12 re-evaluation and answer book verification portal, allowing students to seek a review of their board examination results. The move comes after technical delays and extensive system upgrades aimed at ensuring a transparent and secure post-result review process.
The online facility is available for students who have already obtained scanned copies of their evaluated answer sheets. Through the portal, candidates can report discrepancies in scanned answer books, request verification of marks, and apply for question-wise re-evaluation if they believe errors may have occurred during the assessment process.
CBSE has announced that the application window for verification and re-evaluation will remain open until June 6, 2026. Students are advised to complete the process within the stipulated deadline, as no extension has been announced by the board so far.
The portal’s launch follows a brief delay that left many students concerned after the website failed to become operational on the originally announced date. CBSE later clarified that additional security checks and technical audits were being conducted to improve the platform’s reliability and protect student data. Experts from institutions including IIT Kanpur and IIT Madras were reportedly involved in strengthening the system.
Under the revised process, students must first log in through the official CBSE portal, complete Aadhaar authentication where required, select the subjects for review, submit their objections, and pay the prescribed fees online. The board has emphasized that applications will only be accepted through the designated digital platform.
The re-evaluation process has attracted significant attention this year amid ongoing discussions surrounding CBSE’s new On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. Several students had raised concerns regarding scanned answer sheets, image quality and evaluation accuracy, prompting the board to introduce additional safeguards and review mechanisms. CBSE has maintained that the system is designed to improve transparency and efficiency in the evaluation process.
Education experts advise students to carefully compare their answer sheets with the official marking scheme before applying for re-evaluation. Candidates should identify specific questions where they believe marks may have been incorrectly awarded rather than filing broad requests without supporting reasons.
The opening of the re-evaluation portal provides Class 12 students with an important opportunity to address concerns regarding their results before the commencement of admission processes for universities and professional courses. With counselling and college admissions already underway across the country, the outcome of these reviews could prove crucial for many students seeking admission to their preferred institutions.
