The Central Government has appointed Anurag Jain, a senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 1989 Madhya Pradesh cadre, as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NITI Aayog for a period of two years. He succeeds the previous leadership at the government’s premier public policy think tank and is expected to play a pivotal role in driving India’s long-term development agenda.
Jain’s appointment comes at a time when NITI Aayog is focusing on infrastructure expansion, digital governance, manufacturing growth, and achieving the vision of a developed India by 2047.
A Distinguished Bureaucratic Career
With more than three decades in public administration, Anurag Jain has held several key positions in both the Central and Madhya Pradesh governments. Before his latest appointment, he served as the Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh, overseeing governance reforms and administrative coordination across the state.
He has also served as Secretary in the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), where he played an important role in industrial policy, investment promotion, and infrastructure development.
