Aryan Khan Scores Double Victory
The 7th edition of the Screenwriters Association (SWA) Awards 2026 turned into a landmark night for Aryan Khan as his debut web series The Bads of Bollywood emerged among the top winners. The awards ceremony, held in Mumbai, celebrated excellence in screenwriting across films, OTT platforms, and television.
Aryan Khan won Best Dialogue in the Web Comedy/Musical/Romance category and also shared the Best Screenplay award with Bilal Siddiqi and Manav Chauhan. The Netflix series successfully converted both its nominations into victories, strengthening Aryan’s position as a promising writer and creator in the entertainment industry.
‘Stolen’ Dominates Feature Film Categories
In the feature film segment, the thriller Stolen delivered a standout performance. Writers Karan Tejpal, Gaurav Dhingra, and Swapnil Salkar “Agadbumb” won the Best Story and Best Screenplay awards for the film.
The Best Dialogue award in the feature film category went to Reshu Nath for the Yami Gautam-starrer Haq, which was praised for its emotionally driven writing and impactful storytelling.
OTT Dramas Receive Major Recognition
The web drama categories saw strong competition this year, with Black Warrant and Paatal Lok Season 2 emerging as major winners.
Satyanshu Singh and Arkesh Ajay received the Best Dialogue award for Black Warrant, while Sudip Sharma, Abhishek Banerjee, Rahul Kanojia, and Tamal Sen won Best Screenplay for Paatal Lok Season 2. Smita Singh earned the Best Story honour for the series Khauf.
Gulzar Adds Another Prestigious Honour
Veteran lyricist Gulzar continued his award-winning legacy by securing the Best Lyrics award for the song Hum Fanaa from Gustaakh Ishq. His recognition once again highlighted the importance of meaningful songwriting in Indian cinema.
Television productions also made their presence felt at the ceremony, with shows like Pushpa Impossible and Itti Si Khushi receiving key honours in writing categories.
SWA Announces Historic Royalties Move
Apart from the awards, the event also marked an important moment for Indian writers. SWA General Secretary Raj Shekhar announced that Indian screenwriters would soon begin receiving international royalties for their creative work.
The announcement was welcomed as a historic breakthrough for the Indian entertainment industry and a major step toward securing global recognition and financial rights for writers.
