Indian shooter Manu Bhaker finished fifth in the women’s 10m air pistol final at the Asian Games 2026, missing out on an individual medal as India’s shooting campaign continued in Aichi-Nagoya. Bhaker ended the final with 181.1 points.
India Narrowly Misses Team Medal
Earlier in qualification, India also came close to a medal in the women’s 10m air pistol team event.
The Indian team finished level with Vietnam on 1719 points, but missed the bronze medal on the inner-10 count. Bhaker nevertheless progressed to the individual final, keeping India’s medal hopes alive before eventually finishing fifth.
Shooting Remains Important for India
Shooting has been one of India’s strongest disciplines in the opening stages of the Games. Before Wednesday’s events, Indian shooters had already contributed multiple medals across the men’s and women’s rifle competitions.
However, India is still searching for its first shooting gold of the 2026 Asian Games, after several podium finishes and narrow misses. Elavenil Valarivan and Parth Mane also finished fourth in the 10m air rifle mixed team final earlier in the competition.
More Opportunities Ahead for Bhaker
Bhaker’s Asian Games campaign is not over with the 10m air pistol result. She is also scheduled to compete in other pistol events, giving the two-time Olympic medallist further opportunities to challenge for a podium finish.
India entered September 23 with seven medals — one gold, four silver and two bronze. The women’s cricket team delivered the country’s first gold after defeating Sri Lanka in the final.
With several shooting events still to come, India will look to convert its consistent appearances in qualification and finals into further medals.
