New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra has been ruled out of the five-match T20I series against India after dislocating his right shoulder during a promotional shoot in Auckland.
Ravindra suffered the injury while attempting a diving catch during filming on September 16. Medical assessments found no major structural damage, but his rehabilitation is expected to take around six weeks.
Ravindra Targets ODI Return
New Zealand Cricket is taking a cautious approach with the 26-year-old, with the team targeting his return for the ODI series against India beginning November 4.
Head coach Rob Walter said Ravindra will play an important role during New Zealand’s upcoming international season and should not be rushed back from rehabilitation.
Ravindra is an important all-round option for New Zealand, contributing as a top-order batter and left-arm spinner.
Santner to Lead New Zealand
New Zealand has named a 16-member squad for the T20I series, with white-ball captain Mitchell Santner continuing to lead the side.
Veteran fast bowler Adam Milne returns after more than a year, while Michael Bracewell is also back in the squad. The series begins on October 22 at Hagley Oval in Christchurch and includes five matches across four cities.
The absence of Ravindra gives New Zealand another selection challenge ahead of a busy home season, while the team will look to its returning players to strengthen the squad.
