India’s para archery contingent delivered a historic performance at the 2026 World Archery Para Series in Bangkok, emerging as the top-performing nation in the tournament. Competing against athletes from 21 countries, the Indian team finished with an impressive haul of 13 medals, including seven gold, three silver, and three bronze medals.
The outstanding achievement highlighted India’s growing dominance in para sports and reinforced the country’s rise as a major force in international archery competitions.
Sports Minister Felicitates Athletes
Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya felicitated the Indian contingent in New Delhi following their remarkable success in Bangkok. During the ceremony, the minister praised the athletes for bringing pride to the nation and applauded their determination and dedication on the global stage.
Mandaviya noted that India not only topped the medal tally but also secured nearly double the medals won by the second-placed country, calling it a major achievement for Indian sports.
Stars Behind India’s Success
Several Indian para archers delivered standout performances during the competition. Sheetal Devi once again impressed with her consistency, while rising sensation Payal Nag grabbed headlines after winning gold in the women’s compound event. Payal’s achievement was especially inspiring as she became one of the first para archers with quadruple limb loss to win at the international level.
India also dominated compound team events, showcasing depth and coordination across categories. The performances reflected the country’s growing investment in para sports infrastructure and athlete development.
A New Era for Indian Para Sports
Experts believe India’s success in Bangkok signals the beginning of a new era for para archery in the country. Indian para athletes have consistently produced strong performances in recent years at Paralympics, Asian Para Games, and World Championships, helping raise the profile of disability sports nationwide.
The achievements in Bangkok have also inspired young athletes across India, proving that determination and discipline can overcome every obstacle.
With upcoming international tournaments and Paralympic qualification events approaching, India’s para archers now carry the confidence of champions and the expectations of an entire nation.
