Khajuraho Airport has been ranked as the best airport in India in the 2026 National Customer Satisfaction Index (NCSI), highlighting its exceptional passenger services and operational efficiency. Bhopal’s Raja Bhoj Airport also delivered an impressive performance by securing the third position, underscoring Madhya Pradesh’s growing reputation for quality airport infrastructure and customer service.
The rankings are based on the Airports Authority of India’s (AAI) National Customer Satisfaction Survey, which evaluates airports on various parameters, including passenger convenience, cleanliness, staff behaviour, security, check-in experience, baggage handling, accessibility and overall travel experience. The survey relies on direct passenger feedback collected from airports across the country.
Khajuraho Airport’s top ranking reflects sustained efforts to enhance passenger facilities despite serving a relatively smaller volume of travellers compared to major metropolitan airports. Officials attributed the achievement to continuous improvements in customer service, infrastructure maintenance, efficient airport operations and the commitment of airport staff and partner agencies.
Raja Bhoj Airport in Bhopal secured the third spot after consistently maintaining high standards in passenger services. The airport has witnessed significant upgrades in recent years, including improved terminal facilities, better passenger amenities and enhanced operational efficiency, helping it remain among India’s highest-rated airports.
The strong performance of both airports highlights Madhya Pradesh’s expanding aviation infrastructure and growing emphasis on improving the travel experience. Khajuraho, known globally for its UNESCO World Heritage temple complex, benefits from increasing tourist arrivals, while Bhopal continues to strengthen its position as one of central India’s key aviation hubs.
Industry experts note that customer satisfaction surveys play a crucial role in encouraging airports to improve service quality and adopt passenger-centric practices. High rankings not only enhance an airport’s reputation but also contribute to tourism, regional connectivity and economic growth by creating a more welcoming travel experience.
