Marco Bezzecchi claimed a commanding victory at the 2026 MotoGP Thailand Grand Prix in Buriram, marking his third consecutive win and Aprilia’s first hat-trick in the premier class. Starting from pole, the Italian led every lap of the 26-lap race, finishing over 5 seconds ahead of Pedro Acosta. Reigning champion Marc Marquez retired early due to a rear tyre puncture, ending Ducati’s 88-race podium streak.

Race Highlights

Bezzecchi launched perfectly from pole, pulling away with consistent fastest laps after an early Sprint race error. Acosta (KTM) secured second and the championship lead, while Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse Aprilia) held third despite late pace drop. Jorge Martin (Aprilia) and Ai Ogura rounded out a strong top five for RS-GP machines.

Marquez Drama

Marquez, running fourth, suffered a dramatic rim-breaking puncture around lap 14, forcing his retirement and handing KTM a double top-seven with Acosta and Brad Binder (P7). Franco Morbidelli overtook Francesco Bagnaia on the final corner for P8, with the Ducati rider ninth.

Standings Impact

Bezzecchi’s flawless performance sets him as early title contender, validating Aprilia’s pre-season simulations. Acosta leads the riders’ standings ahead of the Brazilian GP, as Ducati faces pressure post-streak end. Fernandez grabs a double podium despite shoulder issues.
