A tragic road accident in Maharashtra’s Solapur district has claimed eight lives and left several others injured, drawing condolences from the country’s highest leadership. The accident occurred in Tandulwadi village of Malshiras taluka when a jeep carrying devotees lost control and plunged into a well.

President Droupadi Murmu expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, describing the incident as “extremely heartbreaking.” In a message of condolence, she conveyed her sympathies to the families who lost their loved ones and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the accident.
The President’s remarks reflected the grief felt across the nation as details of the devastating mishap emerged.
Prime Minister Announces Financial Assistance
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his condolences to the bereaved families. He announced ex-gratia compensation from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF), with ₹2 lakh to be provided to the next of kin of each deceased victim and ₹50,000 to those injured.
The Prime Minister said he was saddened by the loss of lives and wished a quick recovery for the survivors receiving treatment.
Rescue Efforts Launched Immediately
According to local authorities, the vehicle was carrying a group of devotees when it veered off the road and fell into a roadside well. Emergency teams, police personnel, and local residents rushed to the scene and launched rescue operations.
While eight passengers lost their lives in the accident, seven others were rescued and shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment. Officials said prompt rescue efforts helped save several lives.
Maharashtra Government Extends Support
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis described the accident as tragic and assured all possible assistance to the affected families. The state government announced financial aid of ₹5 lakh for the families of each deceased victim.
Officials said medical teams are monitoring the condition of the injured and ensuring they receive necessary care.
