Residents of Aranmula in Kerala’s Pathanamthitta district are enduring another difficult spell of monsoon flooding as continuous rainfall and rising water levels have inundated homes, roads, and low-lying areas. With floodwaters entering residential neighborhoods and fears of further rainfall, many families have spent sleepless nights protecting their homes and belongings while closely monitoring the situation.
The flooding has disrupted daily life, with several roads submerged and access to essential services becoming increasingly difficult in affected areas.
Residents Remain on High Alert
People living in low-lying areas have been forced to stay awake through the night as water levels continue to fluctuate. Many households have shifted valuables and essential items to higher floors while keeping watch for any further rise in floodwaters. Local residents say the uncertainty has created anxiety, especially for elderly people and children.
Floodwaters Inundate Roads and Homes
Heavy rainfall has caused water to enter several residential areas, leaving roads waterlogged and restricting vehicle movement. In some places, transportation has been severely affected as submerged roads and overflowing drains make travel unsafe.
